Luma BBQ Update

If you weren’t able to join us last week for the Luma BBQ—it was great! We think we feed somewhere around 600 students.  It ran like a well oiled machine. Each person knew what they were supposed to be doing and did it well.

The one thing that always stands out to me isn’t the amount of people we feed, but it how our students and leaders respond to people.  Each person on our team, mainly made up of students, responded with excitement, willingness serve, and always step up to the plate. 

I can tell you that Luma student, known to me as lumaniers, can and will conquer the world in which they live in. I have seen it with the students who have already graduated and moved to the next level of their life, but I see it now with the students currently in Luma.  There is a passion that goes beyond Sunday night.  I guess it really is a passion to be more like Jesus.  

Luma has been beyond blessed with amazing leaders who all in and committed to seeing students reached, disciple, and loved.  Without them we couldn’t do what we do every week.

If you haven’t had a chance to come and visit, I invite you to come and see what we are crazy about.  I can guarantee that you will not leave the same.

LUMA FREE BBQ

On Wednesday, September 28, Luma will be having a FREE BBQ available to all Memorial High School students during both lunches.  Meet us outside the Lussier Community Education Center (in front of Jefferson Middle School) and get some free food, enter to win prizes, and hear some live music! Every student is invited so bring a friend!

Through this event, we hope to connect with students in our community, and to provide them with a safe place to grow in their relationship with Jesus, while giving practical opportunities to students to grow in their leadership skills. We've discovered that one of the greatest ways for us to connect with teenagers is through food! We, along with our students, are passionate to connect and unify the students at Memorial High School and to make Jesus famous by taking opportunity to serve others.

We expect BIG THINGS as a result of this event. Stay tuned for updates!

Luma BBQ September 28th

Luma's Bumpin' BBQ is back! Last year, we had way more people than expected, and this year we have prepared for a HUGE turnout and are planning more improvements this year, such as awesome music, raffel prizes, new Luma merchandise and more! Make sure you get as many people you can get to come to this event and spread the word using Facebook, Twitter, everything you can. See you there!

Fall Kickoff 2011 October 2nd

Luma's anual fall kick off is here! This is going to be a huge event, make sure to invite as many people as possible so that they can see for themselves what Luma is all about!

BLAZIN' HOT WINGS CHALLENGE FUNDRAISER

A crazy fun event with a cause. Everyone is invited to come out to Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar in Fitchburg, WI on Monday February 8th at 6:30 pm to support our very own Luma Generation youth. Leaders AND students from Luma will be taking down as many scalding-hot wings as they can in six minutes (up to 12 max). Some of us think it will be a breeze, others are already shaking in their shoes. Show up, cheer us on-we need your support!

WINTER CAMP 2010

February 12-14, we will be heading north to Fort Wilderness in Rhinelander, WI to have a life-changing weekend. Horses, broomball, skating, skiing, coffee shops, camp fires, and tubing are just some of the fun activities that will be available.
